Although you are traveling to Florida, winters along the Emerald Coast can still be very cold (especially on the water). Winter month temperatures can range from the high 40s to the low 70s. We understand that it is a big difference, so we suggest you pack for a variety
of weather on your next winter trip to Florida’s Emerald Coast.

Bathing Suit - As we stated above, Florida winters are unpredictable. While some days are warm, others are extremely chilly. We suggest winter visitors still bring their bathing suits to take advantage of the beach on the warmer days. For the colder days, visitors can still put on their swimsuits and enjoy a hot tub or heated pool if their accommodations offer it. In search of a place to stay that has a heated pool option? Check out Captain Jack’s.

Layers - Bring clothes that are easy to layer, including sweaters, jackets and even a coat. You may need it! If you forget to bring warm clothes or if you find yourself not warm enough with the clothes you packed, don’t worry! Our area has ample shopping options, including the Destin Commons which has something for everyone in the family.

Sunscreen - Although it isn’t summer, don’t forget the SPF. Even if it is not warm outside, the sun still radiates on clear winter days. Many visitors don’t realize they need sunscreen until they are already sunburned. Err on the side of caution and apply sunscreen every day you will be in the sun.

Appetite - Don’t forget your appetite on a trip to the Emerald Coast. With fresh seafood year- round, visitors want to indulge in the variety of options offered throughout the region. Check out dine like a local for a full list of delicious eateries.

Walking shoes - Most visitors only pack flip flops when they head to the beach. We suggest you also pack walking shoes because some days may be a little too chilly for exposed toes. On the days it is too cold to enjoy the water, we encourage our visitors to explore our other outdoor activities such as take a stroll down 30A, hike in local state parks or visit HarborWalk Village or the Village of Baytowne Wharf.
