Destin's Newest Restaurants
As the ‘world’s luckiest fishing village’, Destin is known for its bounty of fishing adventures and fresh catch featured at many of our local restaurants. And, while spending time on our world-famous beaches is the number one reason why people visit Destin, exploring the various dining options available here and sampling the delicious, Gulf seafood comes in a close second for many! Of course, at Dale E. Peterson Vacations, all our accommodations have fully-equipped kitchens so you can enjoy your meals from the comfort of your vacation home, but when you’re ready to get out and get a taste of the town, we’ve listed a few of the newest eateries to hit the Destin restaurant scene.
Embracing the ‘sea-to-table’ movement is
Boshamps Seafood and Oyster House, located in the former Flamingo Café location on the scenic Destin Harbor. Boshamps uses this prime harbor location to its fullest, adding four tiered decks that make their way to the harbor with plenty of seating on each to watch the boats come in. The restaurants features local catch and Apalachicola oysters in just about any way you can imagine. The owners use the term ‘Gulf to Table Southern Cuisine’ to describe their menu which also includes a Fried Green Tomatoes and Jumbo Lump Crab appetizer, Southern-style Fine Fried Chicken and the Original Snapper Destin.
One of the most unique features of Boshamps is the large, sandy beach area below the decks filled with colorful beach toys, ring toss and corn hole games and comfortable hammocks to while away the afternoon. Add in a sprinkle of weekend live entertainment and you have a must-see (and taste) spot for your next vacation.
Another locally-owned restaurant on the harbor that made its debut this spring and has quickly become a favorite with locals and tourists is
Jacakacudas Seafood + Sushi . Located in Harborwalk Village, Jackacudas offers an exciting yet laid back ambiance in the heart of Harborwalk’s shops and attractions. Inside, guests enjoy a sushi bar, large cocktail bar and seating overlooking the harbor. While fresh, sustainable Gulf seafood is a main stay on the menu, the restaurant also offers gluten-free options for those who choose. Fish tacos, oysters, unique twists on Southern staples and more than 10 signature sushi rolls are just part of the expansive menu. Our expert suggestion: bring a group, order a sampling of everything and share!
Parrotheads rejoice! Another new restaurant in Harborwalk Village is the world-famous
Jimmy Buffet’s Margaritaville . From a volcano flowing with margaritas to suspended airplanes, all things ‘Jimmy’ are featured in the restaurant and it’s truly a sight to behold. Family-friendly and tons of fun, you are guaranteed to have a great time and enjoy great island-inspired food (Cheeseburger in paradise, anyone?). With three-levels to explore, you can have a drink to toast the sunset on the Porch of Indecision; have a family meal in the main dining area with open windows to enjoy the breeze; and end the night with dancing and music downstairs with live music every night of the week.
Last, but not least, on our list is
Bric à Brac , located in the Shoreline Village at Highway 98 and Gulf Shore Drive in Destin. The restaurateur family who owns the famed Red Bar in Grayton Beach and Louis Louis in Santa Rosa Beach has expanded their reach into Destin with their newest eatery. Known for its eclectic décor and delicious, freshly-made cuisine, the owners have ensured this newest venture will not disappoint fans of their other locations. Once you walk in, you’ll be greeted by a relaxing bar and live music seating area with the main dining area accessible so guests are able to enjoy the atmosphere. The décor has been meticulously culled and installed as if it had been there for years. Of course, the highlight of the Bric à Brac experience is the food. Those familiar with Red Bar and Louis Louis will recognize their signature dishes – Crab Cakes, Paneed Chicken, Pan Sautéed Grouper – and the quality and value is hard to beat. An exciting feature of their Destin location is the nightclub upstairs – open nightly in season.
